HARRISBURG, Pa. — Members of the Pennsylvania National Guard assist with the state’s Holiday Wish Program, Dec. 12, 2012. The Holiday Wish program was started in 1989 by a small group of Department of Public Welfare employees and over the years has grown to include hundreds of employees in several departments. The gifts, donated voluntarily by state employees, will reach more than 200 Pennsylvania families in need this holiday season. The Pennsylvania National Guard assists with the distribution of the wrapped gifts to participating county assistance offices who then take care of distribution to the families.
