Bugatti Art Deco Bling
Major rare special bodied 1939 Bugatti Type 57C Vanvooren Cabriolet, built by the usually conservative Parisian Coachbuilder, Vanvooren, from drawings from the usually flamboyant Figoni & Falaschi and is classic over the top Art Deco. It was commissioned by the French Government as a wedding gift to the Prince of Persia (Iran) when he wedded the princess of Egypt, and he later used the car when he was named Shah of Iran
Carrosserie Vanvooren was begun in 1888 and survived until about 1950 when the costs of custom bodies had become prohibitive due to the ravages of war, and the extremely high luxury post war taxes, doomed the company. The blue is the effect of the sky on a probably $100,000 paint job which is amazingly deep and reflective. The wonderfully raked windshield cranks down into the cowl for a full wind in the face experiance.
